Masterpieces of Handicap Go is based on a popular series of articles published in the American Go Journal between 1987 and 1996. This second volume contains fourteen games from the journal plus four others newly translated by Robert McGuigan, who translated the games for the journal. Most of these games are between an established professional and a young player who was destined to become famous, such as Cho Chikun or Kato Masao. The original articles have been corrected and the number of game diagrams significantly increased so that there are fewer moves per diagram. The commentary is quite thorough and contains unusually helpful advice for playing both the black and the white stones in handicap games. This book has been published by Slate & Shell for the American Go Association.
